Central West

The Central West Region of the KnowledgeConnector, spans from just south of Edmonton in the north, to Okotoks in the south, to Banff in the west, and borders Calgary to the east. Although the region looks small it probably holds well over half of Alberta’s rural population. While Alberta in general is famous for its rodeos, one of the most famous rodeos in the country is held in this region – the nationally important Ponoka Stampede. Of course, one cannot end a description of this region without mentioning another world-famous place and the birthplace of Canada’s first national park, Banff!
